Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change implemented the national marine monitoring programme called: Integrated Marine Pollution Monitoring Program of Turkey . The program is coordinated by the TUBITAK Marmara Research Center with the cooperations of marine institutes of universities and marine experts and the public aıuthorities.As of 2014-2016, IMPM has been made regular and for the 2017-2019 period and 2020-2022 period, the program has been developed in 3-year periods, including the winter sampling season.

As a part of the program, an automatic profiling buoy was established at a pilot scale and used to monitor oceanographic and hydrographic changes related with the water quality since 2018. Underwater noise monitoring system is established in 2021 to determine the effects of anthropogenic underwater noise.
